Tenorm (Technologically Enhanced Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials)

The scope of work for Radio-logical Monitoring is based on the ‘AELB’s Guideline on Radiological Monitoring for Oil and Gas Facilities Operators Associated with Technologically Enhanced Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (TENORM) LEM/TEk/30, i.e :-

i) Measurements of external radiation level (in-situ) using survey meter. External radiation level shall not exceed 0.5 μSv / hr equivalent to 1.0 mSv / year (Sec. 5.1.1).

ii) Measurement of surface contamination levels at the site have been directed by the Company’s Exploration. Surface is considered contaminated if the reading beam α exceeds 0:04 Bq / cm2 and more radiation than 0.4 Bq / cm2 (Sec. 5.1.2).

iii) Air sampling and analysis (for gross α and β) will do if the operation is dusty (dusty). Limit each a 0.01 Bq/m3 for uranium and 0.001 Bq/m3 for thorium (sec. 5.13).

iv) Sampling and analysis of samples oil and scales in the tank and the oil channels (vessel and piping) are done to evaluate the contents of radioactivity Ra-226 and Ra-228 (sec. 5.1.4).
