  • RADIO-PHOTOLUMINESCENCE (RPL) DOSIMETER

    Radiophotoluminescence (RPL) dosimeters based on Ag+-doped phosphate glasses are now commercially used for dosimetry worldwide (Miyamoto et al., 2011), having been adopted in Europe by the Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety (Institut de radioprotection et de Sûreté Nucléaire, IRSN, France) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The system is used for individual monitoring since 2016 by the accredited Dosimetry Laboratory of the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI). Assenmacher et al. (2017) presented the commissioning data of the system in terms of the operational personal dose equivalent Hp(10), showing that it satisfies the requirements of the Swiss Ordinance of the Federal Department of Home Affairs (EDI) on Personal and Environmental Dosimetry (hereafter called “Swiss dosimetry ordinance”) (Swiss Federal Council, 2017).
